Morning! 🙂 hope you are having a good morning this Monday, mine is 🙂 . Today is all about going to fantasy to draw inspiration. Fairy tales are a fundamental part of growing up and I know there are some that stuck with you until to date.
Alice in Wonderland was one of the stories I read and it stuck with me. I mean how do writers come up with this stuff? Like seriously…A small girl falling down a rabbit hole, only to find a whole kingdom of weirdness; playing croquet with flamingos, talking rabbits, the hatter and March Hare whose love for tea was uncanny. Though you can’t blame them, forever stuck in the time of 6p.m…uh, tea anyone? Some people even claim the author may have been hallucinating on some drugs. Well to be fair there are a lot of innuendos in the story that suggests that, from Alice eating mushrooms and drinking potions to change her physical state and a caterpillar that smokes from a questionable water pipe. Plus what makes the case more probable is the fact that opium was legal at the time Lewis Carroll wrote the book. But in all honesty he came up with the story when on a boat trip with the real Alice and her sisters. It really stretches your imagination and that’s why it’s one of my favourite fairy tales. Even medicine borrowed a leaf from this fine fairy tale, Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, where people actually feel their human perceptions change and it’s more common in childhood.
We are so obsessed with trying to breakdown stories logically forgetting that they were written for entertainment. The dress I wore felt whimsical and reminded me of Wonderland. I’m no Alice, I am…Simply Siro in Wonderland. So tell me what is your fave fairy tale growing up? I would love to know.
Keep smiling 🙂
