Healthy Dining

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food,”  Hippocrates

Howdy! Happy Monday to you 🙂 . You are what you eat. Such simple words yet profoundly true. The moment we have too much of one food type we get sick. Like I mentioned on my first post everything needs yin and yang i.e. balance and your diet is included.

I must admit I am obsessed with food, but there is only so much one can eat before becoming gluttonous and unhealthy. So with the fact that I love the food experience I try and find different ways to prepare my meals and still be balanced and healthy. I feel like this be healthy train has become a monster of its own with so many hashtags and campaigns on social media, people posting every time they workout and every single meal they consume. It’s a bit much if you ask me, but I digress. When it comes to food I am guilty of over indulging in oh so sweet and fatty foods. I have one heck of a sweet tooth so avoiding treats is hard. There is a theory for how you should manage your diet and not skip on your deliciously sinful treats, the 80/20 diet. Basically, 80% of your diet consists of only healthy foods and 20% is left for a bit of indulgence. Well everything in moderation, plus it makes sense; I can’t go cold turkey let alone give up junky food. Thanks to google I have been using different recipes to create my guilty pleasure foods in a healthier way because as I said I can’t give up junk. I plan on sharing some tasty recipes with you every now and then.

On top of diet exercise is important, apparently your weight and overall health is mostly determined by diet and not your workout. The general principle is 70% diet 30% workout. Don’t forget exercise is not just about losing weight but keeping your heart and body healthy, so do it. I work-out at home and lemme just say you need motivation. I’m currently doing T25 by T Shaun my self-motivation is I only need 25 minutes of my 24 hour day to keep fit.  I love that its short, am lazy like that haha. Tell me, how do you strive to be fit and stay healthy?

Keep smiling 🙂
