Autumn in Spring

“If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun,” Katharine Hepburn

Good morning 🙂 . hope you enjoyed your weekend, yes? If not, there’s always another one to make up for it. The amount of truth in today’s quote is uncanny. Our behaviour is largely affected by the rules that govern particular situations and environments. We are constantly obliged to behave in a particular way, or to avoid certain behaviours, the rules may be formal like laws, or informal rules of ‘social etiquette’ which is implied.

First off, we grew up knowing, because we were told, that we must follow every rule or else! If you did not you were a ‘bad girl/boy’ and got punished. But when you look back, your best and even worst memories involved some rules been broken and made it a memory worth having till death do you part from it. There are some rules you can bend or even break without too big of a consequence and then there is just the outright criminal. When I say breaking rules I don’t mean committing fraud or burglary, I mean those times you cheated in a test, came to work late, trespassing e.t.c. you catch my drift? What is interesting about people who break rules or don’t follow them all together give an impression of power. This is because people who have power follow fewer rules than the majority, also acting rudely leads people to seem powerful. How many times have you encountered rude people and think “who the hell do they think they are?!” Automatically your mind thinks they may have power and thus their uncalled for rudeness. Oddly enough studies suggest people who cheat are more creative than honest people…hmm? Am not saying you should cheat or break rules, but giving you an introspective glimpse of why people do it.

Fashion has rules and we break them constantly, even the designers and trend setters do too. But when they do it’s always a big buzz whether a hit or miss, why? Because they took a risk and did what others were too scared to do making them seem to have power in the fashion world. At times rules are meant to be broken in order to explore whats beyond, pushing our limits. I decided to wear autumn colours in spring because I can and I love olive green as it compliments my skin tone. Plus I live in the tropics and such seasons don’t really apply per se 🙂 .

Keep Smiling 🙂
