“He that can take rest is greater than he that can take cities,” Benjamin Franklin
When last were you truly relaxed and I don’t mean seated watching something or listening to music to unwind. I mean truly been in a state of peace and calm so deep you stop thinking and just enjoy all the sensory pleasures life offers every day for free. Life is so much of a rat race we lose sight of its purpose.
You were not born to work. Granted you must work to eat, but that’s not life’s ultimate purpose. We must enjoy the spoils of life. I realised how we are so goal-oriented to the point that we have tunnel vision. You only see the end goal and do not stop for anyone or anything. We miss meeting up with friends, attending functions, vacations etc. all in the name of the paper. Paper of which its value is what we say it is because, in reality, it has no value, it’s just paper. Yet family and friends have value without you needing to justify it, like with money. I mean we are who we are because of them, not money. We must learn that relaxation is just as important as being industrious. Your health is your wealth because without it, you are helpless, which is a horrible feeling. Do not let the job kill you, honestly, it’s never that serious, you have more worth alive than dead and no amount of money can replace your worth to those who matter to you. Stress is killing us, so many car accidents are been caused by sleep deprived people leave alone drunks. Health problems all in the name of paper which will eventually be used in health bills, even economically speaking, at that point, the job ceases been an asset and becomes a liability.
My point is to breathe, even on a lunch break if you can get out of the office do so, don’t always eat in the office. Take a walk in the park, stop staring at screens all the darn time. Life is all about perspective see the good in every day. It is easy to say your day sucked and give 1,000+ legitimate reasons but look at the positive because in the end its happy memories that we replay and rewind in our minds and not how bad traffic was or your mean boss. It will always be a choice to be happy or sad never an inevitability. It’s Monday decide to…
Keep Smiling 🙂
