The Power of Makeup

“A girl should be two things, classy and fabulous,” Coco Chanel

Hi, good people! 🙂 I woke up today feeling happy and cheerful, a new week with so many endless possibilities. Also, I get to blog, whoop! I have an editorial calendar but of late I have failed to plan it well but I need to otherwise I will no longer have content for you, yikes! You can say I am in the writer block crisis, inspiration is a bit harder to come by recently.

I digress, today is about beauty, specifically makeup. I love makeup from the special effects type that turns people to believable zombies to the type supermodels rock in photo shoots and runways.  The power of makeup is truly unbelievable and that’s why I love it. I am no professional in this sector but definitely an enthusiast, so I get tips and tricks from YouTube makeup tutorials, especially from professional artists like Lisa Eldridge and Wayne Goss. I figured if they get to do celebrities and models makeup, they are legit. I also like Jackie Aina’s channel and makeup by Shayla, really awesome tutorials and reviews. I found it important to find people with your skin tone range so as to know how certain shades of foundation or lipsticks would look on your skin, especially if you are considering buying the product. Granted they are lighter than me but I love their makeup looks.

I also got a one on one class with this amazing soul Lynda Ijeoma. She taught me the first rule to good makeup is good skincare. The better your skin looks the better your makeup looks.  So get your routine right and do not get lazy with it, least your skin suffers. Once you have a skin care regimen that works learn how to perfect a flawless skin look. Trust me when I say that if you have your foundation game down and don’t put even eye shadow or lipstick your look is 80% complete. Secondly your tools, an artist is only as good as their tool, buy quality makeup brushes, beauty blenders and original brand products, not counterfeit. Yes, it is more expensive but gives you a great finish.  Makeup is practice and I have been practising for over five years now and boy have I improved but still a long way off too. The makeup look I have is simple and can be worn every day. Stay classy and fabulous.

Keep Smiling 🙂

P.S. I have not retouched any of the pics and they were shot in natural light with my phone. Also I honestly never intended to use these pics for the blog, but isn’t it interesting seeing a person get ready? So don’t mind the head gear *runs and hides.
